UM Programs with Internship Option

Maryland-in-London
Spend a semester or year studying, living and working in the cultural and commercial capital of the UK while earning UM credit towards your major, minor, CORE or elective requirements.

Maryland-in-Haifa
Spend a semester in a city where you can experience Israel’s rich and diverse mosaic of cultures. There is an opportunity to earn 4 credits through an internship experience in many fields including health services, archaeology and psychology.

Maryland-in-Shanghai
Maryland-in-Shangahi students enroll at Fudan University, the leading university in Shanghai and one of the top universities in China. Students not only have the opportunity to study Chinese culture, but to immerse themselves in it through an internship experience.

Participate in an internship while earning transfer credit for your studies at an Australian University in Sydney or Melbourne.

USAC
The University of Maryland is a member of USAC, offering study abroad programs in 39 locations in 25 countries. Advanced Spanish speakers can participate in internships in Bilbao, Spain and Santiago, Chile. Other internship opportunities may be available at other sites. IEP International Education Programs 
IEP promotes global experiences by engaging students in internship and volunteer programs throughout the world. They have programs in South America, Latin America, Europe, Africa, and Asia.

CDS International
CDS international is a non-profit organization that administers summer and semester long internships in Germany, Spain and Argentina.

U.S. Foreign Agricultural Service
The International Agricultural Internship Program (IAIP) provides international agricultural trade experience to senior and graduate college and university students that have the background and interest to help our 90 overseas offices promote U.S. agricultural interests abroad.

International Cooperative Education Program
Provides summer internship programs in Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Japan, China or South America for graduates who have studied the appropriate language.

International Internships
Since 2004, organizes internships in 9 countries and 4 continents. Internships are available in a wide variety of unique fields and are based on the applicants' interests and experience.

Internships International
Arranges internships for college seniors and recent graduates in most areas of study including pre-medicine in 17 different countries. Programs run from 4-10 weeks and program fees range depending on location.

U.S. Department of State
There are a number of internships abroad in Africa, Latin America, Asia and the Pacific. Internships last a summer or academic term. Interns must be U.S. citizens, be able to pass a security check and be at least a junior at a U.S. university. Most internships are not paid but housing at the consulate or embassy is generally provided.

Africa

Connect123
Connect-123 Internship and Volunteer Programs facilitates career-related internship and service learning opportunities for international undergraduate and graduate students in Cape Town, South Africa, in a wide range of fields including public health, medicine, education, economic development, human rights, and journalism.

International Foundation for Education and Self Help
The International Fellows Program places recent college graduates and graduate students in internships with international development organizations. Paid positions are available.

OIC International
Employment, internship and volunteer opportunities are available in their U.S. and field offices in Africa for varying projects and lengths of time. The mission of the organization is to assist African citizens to develop the skills they need to take advantage of new work opportunities.

Asia

Experiential Travels
Experiential Travels is a services company based in Bangalore, India with a marketing office in Fremont, CA. It offers paid and unpaid internships with room and some meals in different areas - marketing, market research, event management, health care, education, teaching, and fund raising.

Global China Intern Exchange Center
For college students and new graduates who want to learn about China and gain valuable experience for future life and career development, Global China offers intern, intern/study/travel and work/travel programs.

Princeton in Asia
Offers placement in paid teaching positions in a number of countries in Asia. Also available are fellowships in education, journalism, non-government organizations and businesses.

Sponsors for Educational Opportunity
Banking and finance internships in Hong Kong with Citigroup, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs & Co. JP Morgan, Lehman Brothers and UBS. Strong preference for fluency in Mandarin or Korean business language and applicants must have an intention to pursue post-graduate career opportunities in Hong Kong or the greater Asia region.

Europe

Auschwitz Jewish Center
The Bridge to History program offers college graduates and graduate students the opportunity to learn first-hand about the rich, vibrant life of Jews in pre-War Poland, and develop projects and conduct programs on behalf of the Center. The intensive 6 week summer program includes a one week orientation in New York City and five weeks in Poland including travel to Krakow, Warsaw and Oswieicm among other places. Participants will work on projects related to relevant topics. Scholars receive a stipend and are compensated for all housing and related travel expenses.

American Scandinavian Foundation
Includes a directory of study and language programs in Scandinavian countries and offers internship placements and English-teaching positions.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)- German Parliament Internship Program
Two month internships in the National German Parliament.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)- RISE Program
Offered by DAAD in cooperation with science organizations in North America and Germany for undergraduate students from the US and Canada in the fields of biology, chemistry, physics, earth Sciences and engineering. Students apply for a summer research internship in Germany and have the opportunity to be placed with research groups at universities and top research institutions across Germany. RISE placements provide students the opportunity to live and work in an international context, to gain confidence in their practical and theoretical skills, and to improve their (or begin learning!) German.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD)- Summer Journalism Internship Program
Summer academic internship program in Berlin consisting of two complementary segments of study, project work and journalism related internship.

U.S. Commercial Service- UK
Unpaid internship position in London at the U.S. Embassy for international business, business administration or marketing majors (other majors considered). Eligible applicants include students who are available for a minimum of three months, able to work for a minimum of four full days per week, enrolled in an academic program and be in possession of a U.S. or a U.K passport.

Latin America

Institute for International Education
Internships in the IIE office in Mexico City where students will answer questions regarding the American educational system and develop their own special projects. Internships are for two months, though longer internships can be arranged. Interns should have completed at least three years of college, have good Spanish language skills and an interest and knowledge of Mexican history and culture.
