Summer Study Abroad, 2008: Cameroon: A Case Study in European Colonialism
Participants on the Cameroon service-learning program will have the opportunity to work directly with EFA (Education Fights AIDS) International, a small NGO dedicated to empowering youth affected and/or infected with HIV/AIDS in northern Cameroon. Students on the program will work alongside Cameroonian youth, assisting them as they develop small income-generating projects to support their group activities. The program is also designed to provide ample opportunity for cultural immersion and integration. Last day to apply is Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
Alternative Spring Break, 2008 - Peru
UM students will work on a community development project in Peru. Application deadlines for ASB programs are in October of the preceding semester. Check back for 2009 international ASB programs.

El Nahual
El Nahual is a small non profit language center that offers volunteer opportunities at their site in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. El Nahual's primary function is to improve the lives of people in Guatemala through a number of projects. Volunteers must have a strong ability to communicate in the Spanish language, be able to commit to 2 months of volunteering and be interested in community development and social justice.

OIC was founded to assist African citizens develop the skills needed to take advantage of new work opportunities. Employment, internship and volunteer opportunities are available in their U.S. and field offices in Africa for varying projects and lengths of time.
