Maryland in London
Spend a semester or year studying, living and working in the cultural and commercial capital of the UK while earning UM credit towards your major, minor, CORE or elective requirements.
Maryland in Spain
Spend the spring semester right outside of Madrid in Alcalá de Henares where you take courses in Spanish language and culture and immerse yourself in Spanish culture through a local internship for UM credit.
Study-Australia
Participate in an internship while earning transfer credit for your studies at an Australian University in Sydney or Melbourne.
USAC
The University of Maryland is a member of USAC, offering study abroad programs in 39 locations in 25 countries. Advanced Spanish speakers can participate in internships in Bilbao, Spain and Santiago, Chile. Other internship opportunities may be available at other sites. Speak with your study abroad advisor for more information.
Summer, 2008
Jamaica: Ethnographic Field School
Select one of two options for completing and earning UM credit for an internship in Jamaica to work with youth sexual and reproductive health issues. Last day to apply is Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
Geneva & Stockholm: International LGBT Human Rights
Students will examine the current international human rights framework from the perspective of the legal and political challenges encountered in extending human rights protections to at-risk, LGBT (and same-sex-practicing) communities through an internship in Washington, D.C. and international coursework to complement the internship. Interested students should contact Dr. Michael Ulrich. Last day to apply is Tuesday, March 4, 2008.

Chevy Chase Leadership Internship Program
The CCLIP, coordinated by the University Career Center and the Maryland Leadership Development Program, allows selected students to participate in a one year experience combining a local internship, a UM course and an international experience over Spring break to develop students' leadership capacities. Applications for the 2008-2009 program will be due in April, 2008.
Alternative Spring Break, 2008 - Peru
UM students will work on a community development project in Peru. Application deadlines for ASB programs are in October of the preceding semester.
Summer Study Abroad, 2008: Cameroon: A Case Study in European Colonialism
Participate in a 3 week study abroad course followed by a 2 week service learning project that introduces students to historical and modern day Cameroon and will allow a greater understanding of the local culture through visits to different regions and sites throughout the country and meetings with local Cameroonian lecturers, students and non-profit organizers. Last day to apply is Tuesday, March 4, 2008.
