Graduate Admissions Checklist
What is a completed application?
- International academic credentials
- Official copy of Bachelor’s degree, issued in the original language with a literal English translation;
- Official academic records (transcripts) from Bachelor’s degree program, issued in the original language with a literal English translation;
- Official copy of Master’s degree, issued in the original language with a literal English translation;
- Official academic records (transcripts) from Master’s degree program issued in the original language with a literal English translation;
- Evidence of English Proficiency
- Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL)
- International English Language Testing System (IELTS)
- Please note that photocopies of score reports are not acceptable, only official TOEFL score sent by ETS will be accepted. For those submitting TOEFL scores, the reporting code for the University of College Park is 5814.
- Financial Certification
- Proof of liquid finances, such as current bank statement, to cover one year’s worth of expenses (tuition, fees, books, insurance, and living expenses) is required by your sponsor. We do not accept loans or non-liquid assets.
- If you have a sponsor, information from your sponsor is required.
- The Certificate of Finances/Cost of Attendance form or a letter of guarantee completed and signed by your sponsor.
- A current official bank statement from your sponsor. The statement should clearly indicate the name(s) of the account holder(s) and the actual amount of money in the account(s).
- If your sponsor is a permanent resident of the United States, an official, notarized Affidavit of Support (I 134 form signed by your sponsor is required of all sponsors.
- If you have dependent(s), please show financial support for your dependent(s) in the amount of $4500 for each dependent you wish to bring into the United States. For each dependent, please list last (family) name, first (given) name, middle name (if applicable), gender, relationship to applicant, date of birth, city and country of birth, country of citizenship, and country of legal permanent residence.
- Visa Documentation
- Permanent Resident card (green card)
- F-1 students:
- If you are already in the United States, attach copies of your passport, visa page, Form I-94 white departure card, and both sides of your Form I-20 ID Student Copy.
- Academic Department Approval
- Each department may require specific essays or additional information be submitted with your application so be sure to review the department's website before submitting your application on-line.
