Global Communities, located in Dorchester Hall, brings undergraduate students from more than 30 countries, including the United States, to live together and build cooperation and understanding between cultures. Housing in the Washington, D.C. Metro/College Park area can be expensive. You might have to search to find a deal - but don't worry - deals do exist!

A good starting point is the University of Maryland's Off Campus Housing (OCH) website. It has listings for housing near campus, as well as a roommate matching service, an apartment directory, information about local communities, utilities, and typical local rents.
On-Campus Housing
Residence halls are located on campus so undergraduate students have easy access to campus services. Priority is given to first-time freshmen and those returning to the dorms. There are usually long wait-lists, so apply early.
Off-Campus Housing

Long-Term Housing:
The Off-Campus Housing Services Office provides support to students and their families in making well-informed decisions about living off campus. The office provides personalized information and resources about housing and off-campus living. Resources available online include OCH101, a searchable database listing available rental properties in the area; Roommate Finder, another web-based database where students create a profile and search for others with similar housing needs and interests; as well as an extensive array of informational materials.
Craigslist is a very useful, free website has lots of listings for housing in the Washington Metro area, as well as classes, furniture (sometimes free!), and discussion forums.
The Washington Post is the area's leading newspaper, the Washington Post can be bought at numerous locations or visited online to access the classified ads. The Sunday paper edition has the most housing listings.
