OIS Activities and Events

Celebrate the end of the semester with OIS at a Washington Nationals baseball game!

Wednesday, June 5, 2013
5:30-10:00pm

The sport of baseball is known as "America's past-time," and is, for many Americans, a favorite way to spend a summer evening.  Come out June 5th and experience this part of American culture, sample the classic baseball food (hotdogs, nachos, peanuts, and crackerjacks), and if you're lucky you can catch a "fly ball"! We will be cheering on the Nats (wear red if you are too!), but you are welcome to cheer for New York if you prefer.  Other highlights include the President's Race, a popular tradition that occurs at each game, and a possible view of the U.S. Capitol from our seats!

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT TICKETS:

This is a ticketed event with limited space so if you want to go, you must pay a deposit for your ticket in advance, on or before Friday May 24. OIS currently has 27 tickets "on hold" with a group price of $16 each, but we have to buy the tickets in about one week or the reservation will be released (and tickets will become more expensive).  The first 27 people to provide payment will get the tickets, so the sooner the better!

Steps to buy tickets:
1.    Register at eventbrite.
2.    Confirm your space by paying $16 (cash or check) to Louisa Manzeske by May 24 or sooner (just drop by Holzapfel 2106)
3.    Louisa will issue you a receipt for your ticket and book the group of tickets with the Nationals.
4.    OIS will give you your ticket on the game day.

As always, feel free to bring your spouse or a friend. If there are more than 27 people interested in this event, we will create a waiting list and contact the Nationals for  more tickets, if possible. If there not enough people interested, we may need to cancel the event due to not being able to get the group price - in this case, anyone who has made a deposit will receive a refund.

GAME DAY PLAN:

The game starts at 7:05 PM. Nationals' stadium is metro-accessible from the Green line (Navy Yard Station) so we can meet at College Park metro about 5:30 PM and go down together, grab a bite, and find our seats just in time for the game to start.  Details about exactly where and when to meet will be emailed to those who have paid the ticket deposit, closer to the game date.
