OIA's central office (1122 Holzapfel Hall) promotes all aspects of the overall OIA mission of enhancing the international activities and character of UMD.

OIA central office personnel

  • Manage and administer fiscal operations and resources for all OIA offices
  • Oversee print and electronic communications for all OIA units, including production of OIA's newsletter, Maryland International
  • Facilitate visits to UMD by representatives or delegations from peer institutions abroad, foreign governments and ministries, or other international organizations
  • Offer institutional support for the international activities of faculty and professional staff, via

Among UMD's goals is a significant international experience for all UMD students, whether via a study abroad program, an internship opportunity with international companies, or one of several campus-based programs providing inter-cultural learning experiences.

More than ten percent of UMD students come from outside the U.S., placing Maryland, for more than 15 years, among the top 20 U.S. universities serving international students. We are proud to host these outstanding students, and strive to facilitate a positive learning and living experience for our international students.
