Spring Gala 2006

To celebrate the accomplishments in launching the Confucius Institute and plans for the coming year, the Confucius Institute held a Spring Gala on Thursday, March 2, 2006 at the McKeldin Library on the University of Maryland campus.

The event was attended by University of Maryland President C.D. Mote, Jr., Dr. Saul Sosnowski, UM's Associate Provost of International Affairs, Mr. Zheng Zeguang, Deputy Chief of Mission from the Embassy of the People's Republic of China, Dr. Michael Ma, Deputy Director of the Confucius Institute and Executive Director of the Institute for Global Chinese Affairs (IGCA), Dr. Donna Wiseman, Associate Dean of UM's College of Education and Dr. Chuan Liu, IGCA's founding director. Also in attendance was ________, the 67th descendant of Confucius himself, and many people from the Washington, DC Chinese community.
