Traditional Fulbright Scholar Program
The traditional Fulbright Scholar Program sends 800 U.S. faculty and professionals abroad each year. Grantees lecture and conduct research in a wide variety of academic and professional fields.
2010-2011 Competition opened March 1, 2009; applications were due August 1, 2009. Pls check with country Program Officers to see whether applications are still being accepted.
Fulbright Senior Specialists Program
The Fulbright Senior Specialists Program is designed to provide short-term academic opportunities (two to six weeks) for U.S. faculty and professionals. Shorter grant lengths give specialists greater flexibility to pursue a grant that works best with their current academic or professional commitments.

Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program
Awards in the Fulbright Distinguished Chairs Program are viewed as among the most prestigious appointments in the Fulbright Scholar Program. Candidates should be senior scholars and have a significant publication and teaching record.
Fulbright International Education Administrators Program
IEA seminars are designed to introduce participants to the society, culture and higher education systems in Germany, Japan or Korea through campus visits, meetings with foreign colleagues and government officials, attendance at cultural events and briefings on education. Participants gain new perspective on the need to internationalize U.S. campuses and insight into how it can be done.

Fulbright German Studies Seminars
Participants of the Fulbright German Studies Seminars will examine the political, social and economic institutions of Germany. Each seminar has a specific thematic focus. The program will begin in Berlin and include visits to other cities in eastern and western Germany.

Each year some 800 faculty and professionals from around the world receive Fulbright Scholar grants for advanced research and university lecturing in the United States. Individuals who meet the eligibility requirements apply for grants through the Fulbright commission/foundation or public affairs section of the U.S. embassy in their home countries.
The New Century Scholars Program
NCS will provide a platform for scholars from the US and around the world to engage in debate and dialogue based on multidisciplinary research and to develop new global models for understanding the social context within which nations and communities shape their responses to the many challenges of the 21st century. This particular aspect of the New Century Scholars program is a unique feature that distinguishes it from the core Fulbright Scholar Program.
Fulbright Scholar-In-Residence Program (SIR)
The Worldwide Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program brings visiting scholars and professionals from abroad to lecture at U.S. colleges and universities for one semester or one academic year. Fulbright Scholars-in-Residence can have a significant impact on U.S. colleges and universities.

Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program: Direct Access to the Muslim World
This Fulbright Visiting Specialists Program is designed to promote understanding of the Muslim World and civilization by providing opportunities for U.S. higher educational institutions to host specialists from the Muslim World for short-term programs of intensive lecturing and public outreach.
The competition for the 2010 calendar year is open.

Fulbright Occasional Lecturer Program (OLP)
The Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) provides travel awards through the Occasional Lecturer Program (OLP), which enable Fulbright Visiting Scholars who are currently in the U.S. to accept guest lecturing invitations at colleges and universities.

Fulbright European Union SIR Program (EUSIR)
The European Union Scholar-in-Residence (EU SIR) Program is designed to strengthen expertise in European Union affairs. Through an arrangement with the European Union, grants are available to bring European scholars specializing in EU affairs to U.S. campuses as resident fellows for one term of the academic year.
