Congratulations to Kevin Matuszak, the Student Commencement Speaker for December 2011 and study abroad alum! Kevin studied abroad during Winter 2011 with the UMD faculty-led Italy: Ancient Greek and Roman Culture in Context study abroad program. Where can study abroad take YOU?!
The Institute for International Education just released Open Doors 2011, a report on international education, and UMD again sent record numbers of students abroad and rose in the national rankings, climbing to #17 from #21 for overall participation. Our #9 ranking for participation in short term study abroad is a significant increase from our #17 ranking last year and reflects the commitment of our amazing faculty who develop and lead these programs. Go Terps!
Looks like the Huffington Post figured out what Maryland students have known for years -- the Danish Institute for Study Abroad, our partner for MD-in-Copenhagen -- is a truly amazing place to study abroad! Read for yourself!

Need inspiration to study abroad? Read UMD student Elizabeth Roberts' story in USA Today about her winter term study abroad experience in Chile. Have your own winter term adventure -- some programs are still open, including the one featured in this article!
And the good news keeps rolling in...UM ranks in the top five nationally for the number of Boren Scholarships and Fellowships awarded in 2011! Find out how YOU can apply for a Boren and finance your study abroad experience in locations off the beaten path.
