Program Calendar  

Program Dates: July 3 - 17, 2010

• December 1, 2009: Summer term application form available
• February 18, 2010: Summer Term Scholarship application deadline
• Last day to apply: March 3, 2010. Please note that University of Maryland has rolling admissions, the program will close before the last day to apply if enough students have applied.
• May: General pre-departure orientation
  
• May: Program specific pre-departure orientation (exact time & place TBD)
• July 3, 2010 - Group flight departs U.S.
• July 17, 2010 - Program end date
• July 17, 2010 - Group flight departs back to U.S.

Program Costs

2010 Program fee TBD (Program Fee: $3,400) includes:

• UM tuition
• UM $250 Study Abroad fee
  
• accommodations
• some meals 
• transportation on London Transport (buses, trains and boats)
• visits to global sports organizations

A $30 application fee is due with the application. If admitted to the program, a $270 non-refundable deposit will be charged to the student's UM account or billed to non-UM students.  The remainder of the program fee will be charged to the enrolled students' UM accounts in April or billed to non-UM students.

Other Costs

Students are responsible for

• personal expenses
• most meals 
• international airfare*

*The study abroad office will suggest a group flight itinerary that each student is responsible for purchasing directly from a travel agent. Although flight costs are not guaranteed and will vary, we estimate round-trip airfare for this program from the Washington, DC area will be approximately $1,000. Once admitted, you should expect to purchase the flight for the program a few weeks later, usually in mid-March.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

The Study Abroad Office offers scholarships for undergraduate students to attend summer term programs. These scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement and financial need. Scholarship applications are due on February 18, 2010.
