Program Calendar

Program Dates: June 2-23, 2008

  • January 2008: Winterterm application form available
  • February 15, 2008: Summer Term Scholarship application deadline
  • Last day to apply: Tuesday, March 4, 2008
  • May 5 or 6, 4.30p, ARM0135: General pre-departure orientation (attend only one)
  • Spring semester 2008: Program specific pre-departure orientation (exact place and time TBD)
  • June 2 - 4, 2008: Class portion of the program meets in College Park
  • June 4, 2008: Group flight departs US
  • June 23, 2008: Program end date
  • June 23, 2008: Group flight departs Greece and returns to U.S.

Program Costs

Program Fee* $3,295 includes:

  • tuition
  • accommodations (in Greece)
  • breakfast
  • transportation to scheduled excursions
  • admission to ancient sites and museums
  • a group dinner on the second night in Athens

A $30 application fee is due with the application. If admitted to the program, a $270 non-refundable deposit will be charged to the student's UM account or billed to non-UM students.  The remainder of the program fee will be charged to the enrolled students' UM accounts in April or billed to non-UM students.

Other Costs

Students are responsible for

  • personal expenses
  • meals (apart from one group meal in Athens)
  • international airfare*
  • accomodations (for 2 nights in College Park before the program begins)

*The study abroad office will suggest a group flight itinerary that each student is responsible for purchasing directly from a travel agent. Although flight costs are not guaranteed and will vary, we estimate round-trip airfare for this program from the Washington, DC area will be approximately $1,250. Once admitted, you should expect to purchase the flight for the program a few weeks later, usually in mid-March.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

The Study Abroad Office offers scholarships for undergraduate students to attend summer term programs. These scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement and financial need. Scholarship applications are due on Friday, February 15, 2008.
