The University of Maryland, Department of Germanic Studies, in cooperation with the Eberhard-Karls-University of Tübingen, Germany conducts a three-week intensive language and culture program in August. This program is administed by the University in Tübingen. The International Summer Course program at Tübingen attracts about 200 participants worldwide to study German language and culture. In addition to the academic program, the International Summer Course offers a variety of activities throughout the state of Baden-Württemberg in order for students to obtain a vivid impression of German history, culture and contemporary issues.
Accommodations
Participants live in residence halls throughout the city. Some students will have a single dorm room with shared bathroom and shower facilities. There is also a communal kitchen located on the premises. Other students may have a single room in a suite with shared kitchen facilities and bathrooms.
Tübingen
Situated on the Neckar River, the University of Tübingen is a 500 year-old traditional German university. Tübingen is a lively and quaint university town, located just on the edge of the Schwarzwald (the Black Forest). Tübingen's architecture dates back to the 15th and 16th centuries. Other attractions are located close to Tübingen; the city of Stuttgart is only one hour by train, and Munich is three hours away.
