Traveling Terps Photo Contest

After the success of the past two years, the Traveling Terps
photo contest is back, and this time photos not only from
studying abroad but also from personal travels abroad are eligible.

Remember returning the U.S. after being abroad and wanting to
show your photographs to anyone who was willing to look at them?
Now is the time to show them off again! We want to see your
favorite photographs and share them with the whole University of Maryland community.

Entry Rules

1. Contestants must be current University of Maryland students.

2. Contestants may only submit one entry per category.

i) Landscape: environment, scenery

ii) Architecture: distinctive buildings and structures

iii) Culture: portrayal of the culture and people of the country

iv) Action: a still shot of an action scene; the content of the scene can vary from a crowd of people at
market day, animals running in the wild, a sports match, or construction workers at work

3. The Deadline for submissions is midnight Sunday, October 28, 2007.

4. Photographs will be judged by a panel to determine finalists for each category.

5. Finalists will be displayed in the Stamp Student Union during International Education Week (November 12-16)
and auctioned off at a subsequent event.

7. Winners in each category will be chosen by popular vote collected both in person at the Student Union and
online at http://travelingterps.wordpress.com.

8. Winners will be announced at the conclusion of International Education Week and prizes will be awarded to
winners from each category.

Submission Procedures

1. Complete the entry form, and submit with photo, via email to travelingterps@gmail.com .

2. Photo should be sized to approximately 1200 x 800 pixels and saved as a jpeg file. Each photo should be
sent in a separate e-mail with the appropriate accompanying form. Photo files should be titled as follows: photographer.title.jpeg.

3. Entries will be accepted until midnight Sunday, October 28, 2007.

4. If you are unable to submit your photo electronically, please contact Ivan at travelingterps@gmail.com.

Past Contests

The Second Annual Study Abroad Photo Contest, sponsored by the Traveling Terps and the Study Abroad Office,
was held on April 28th during Maryland Day 2007. Students, faculty, staff, and visitors voted for photos in the categories of Architecture, People/Culture, Landscape, and Off the Beaten Path. You can view the winning photos in the slideshow gallery below. There are also galleries for the finalist photos in each category.
