Maryland Scholarships

The University of Maryland offers a number of partial scholarships to students planning to study abroad. Most are based on a combination of financial need and academic achievement.

How to Apply for a UM Study Abroad Scholarship

In order to be considered for one of the UM Study Abroad Scholarships, please submit a completed application form to the Study Abroad Office by the application deadline. Incomplete applications will not be considered. You must also complete a FAFSA for the current academic year. Although you do not need to submit your FAFSA with your application, you must ensure that your FAFSA is on file with the Financial Aid Office.

*Please note that while you may be eligible and entered for more than one of our UM Study Abroad Scholarships, if selected, you will only receive only one award.

Scholarship Deadlines

For London, Nice, Alcala, Rome, Berlin, and USAC Programs Spring Semester Enrollment: October 15

For Winter Term and Other Spring Semester Programs:
September 23

For Summer Programs and Exchanges:
February 18

For London, Nice, Berlin, Rome, and USAC Programs Fall Semester Enrollment: March 25.

Turn in your scholarship application with your program application!

Note: If deadline falls on a weekend, the application is due the following Monday.

If You Receive a UM Study Abroad Scholarship

Scholarship recipients are required to complete a project as part of their acceptance of the award. You may choose from the following types of projects to fulfill this requirement:
