Programs Available to UM Students

Students at the University of Maryland can study abroad in a number of different ways. In order to assist students as they search through study abroad options, we require that all students attend a General Advising Session. In General Advising, study abroad advisors discuss options with students and provide resources that students can use to research opportunities.

Many students find that the programs offered through the University of Maryland are low-cost options that require little administrative paperwork. Please see our Programs page for more information about specific UM programs.

The University of Maryland will also grant transfer credit for students studying on approved non-Maryland programs. Typically, these options are administered by other American universities or by prominent study abroad organizations. Students are also allowed to directly enroll in nationally recognized foreign institutions for transfer credit.
