In addition to University of Maryland courses, students may enroll in courses at London Metropolitan University, at their City or North campuses. The University of Maryland has an approved list of courses that can be taken by Maryland-in-London students. UM participants cannot deviate from this list but students from other institutions may explore the possibility of enrolling in London Metropolitan courses not on this list. Courses taken through the University of Maryland or London Metropolitan University must be taken for a grade and academic credit will be assigned and reported on a UM transcript. For London Metropolitan courses not on the approved UM list taken by non-UM participants, a grade report for these courses will be issued separately by London Metropolitan University.

The British degree is highly specialized. Therefore, British students typically have considerable background in the discipline that they study. American students are encouraged to choose courses accordingly. It is inadvisable to choose a course if no prior academic work in the discipline has been completed. If a student has a limited background in a discipline, it is best to enroll only in 100-level courses. Upper level courses demand a high degree of specialization.

As Maryland-in-London students enroll directly in courses at London Metropolitan University, the program cannot guarantee that there will be enough space in every course requested. Courses may also be canceled before the start of the semester. Students on the Maryland-in-London program are given the opportunity to select alternate courses in order to address the possibility that a selected course may not be available.

Please note: Although a course may be listed in the approved list or on the London Metropolitan website, there is no guarantee that the course will be offered during a specific semester. This cannot be determined until November for the Spring semester and July for the Fall Semester.

Courses taken at London Metropolitan University in Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics require the additional approval by London Metropolitan faculty teaching the course. Students who select these courses are advised that if approval is not granted by the faculty teaching the course, an alternative course must be selected.
