In the 2007-2008 academic year, airfare cost roughly $850. Food costs are higher for students staying in apartments, as meals are not included in the rent. Students staying in apartments should budget about $1,700 for food per semester. In addition, all students should plan to budget about $1,500 a semester for personal expenses.

Financial Aid and Scholarships

UM students can use their university, state and federal financial aid towards study abroad expenses. As the Maryland-in-Berlin program fee is charged directly to each student's account, UM students can also use the TERP payment plan when financing their study abroad experience.

Accepted students are also eligible to apply for a Maryland-in-Berlin scholarship. These scholarships are available for up to $1,000 and will be awarded to students based on academic background and financial need. Applications are sent to all accepted students.

DAAD Scholarships
