Registration

Once a students’ paperwork is received in the Study Abroad Office, the student will be registered as a study abroad student.

If the student is participating on a non-UM program, he or she will be P-coded in SIS. This means that you will be able to see a “P” code (for “Participating in Study Abroad”) on the Registration Summary page of SIS.

If the student is participating on a UM-sponsored program that does not carry any resident credit, he or she will be S-coded in SIS. This means you will be able to see an “S” code (for “Enrolled Fulltime in Study Abroad”) on the Registration Summary page of SIS.

If the student is participating on a UM-sponsored program that carries some (or all) resident credit, he or she will be registered for actual courses. Most of the time, these courses will be designated as study abroad by a section code beginning with “SA”.

Students on academic probation cannot be registered for study abroad.
