Dr. Andrea Frisch

Andrea Frisch is a Associate Professor of French at the University of Maryland. A specialist in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, Andrea Frisch received her PhD in Romance Languages and Literatures from the University of California at Berkeley with a dissertation on early modern travel literature and the novel. She subsequently did research in law and literature for The Invention of the Eyewitness: Witnessing and Testimony in Early Modern France (University of North Carolina P, 2004). Her work has appeared in Representations, Romanic Review, Discourse, Esprit créateur and Modern Language Quarterly. Andrea has received fellowships from the Newberry Library, the Folger Shakespeare Library, the National Endowment for the Humanities and, most recently, from the National Humanities Center, where she was a fellow in 2004-2005. She is currently writing a book about the impact of the civil wars of the sixteenth century on the literature and aesthetics of the seventeenth century in France
In addition to teaching the Resident Director course, Dr. Frisch serves as the in-country contact for students on the program. She organizes program activities and excursions, assists with housing and registration, and is available to advise students on academic and personal matters during their time in France.
Françoise Rosso
Instructor
During the spring semester, Françoise teaches one section of the Resident Director course. Françoise was a Teaching Assistant at the University of Maryland for ten years. She now lives permanently in Nice and has worked for the Maryland-in-Nice program since 1996.
Catherine Donohoe
Program Coordinator
Catherine coordinates all logistical aspects of the Maryland-in-Nice program and is responsible for program admissions. She works closely with accepted Nice students and is available to discuss the program with any interested applicants.
Shoshana Griffith
Program Assistant
Shoshana is a Program Assistant and Advisor in the Study Abroad Office. She assists in the administration of all aspects of the Maryland-in-Nice program. Shoshana works closely with accepted Nice students and is available to discuss the program with any interested applicants.
