Free Time & Nightlife
General Tips:
- Always show your student ID
- Purchase your ticket at the theater the day of the performance to get whatever is left over at the cheapest price
- There are countless attractions in London that are free of cost, particularly the museums
- Do not tip bar or pub staff
- Avoid tourist centers, and eat amongst the locals or at student pubs
- Avoid expat or very popular destinations such as Piccadilly
- As a member of ISH (whether or not you live there), you receive a 30% discount on food and drinks in their Café and Pub
- Sample London’s international fare – it tends to be lower cost
- Go out early (before 10pm) to avoid high cover charges
- If you notice different pubs and bars are owned by the same company, see if they offer a customer card which entitles you to lower prices
- Soho and Camden have cheaper pubs, including Hawley Arms, known for its relatively low-priced drinks and famous patrons
- Some bars such as Walkabout have student nights
- Visit the Shoreditch area for a less expensive nightlife
