Eligibility & Application

Eligibility

The Brazil exchange is open to all students demonstrating interest in special education in Latin America. Applicants should be open-minded and flexible.

In addition, students must have an overall grade point average of at least 3.0 (preferably 3.2 within the major).

Students must also demonstrate fluency in Spanish. Basic understanding of Portuguese is preferable.

The Admissions Process

Because admission to exchange programs is competitive and space is limited, early application is advisable. Meeting the minimum GPA requirement alone is insufficient to guarantee admission. All required materials will be considered during the admission process. You may be asked to interview with the coordinator for exchanges.

All applications must be submitted to the Study Abroad Office by the application deadline and all materials must be turned in simultaneously. Applications will not be accepted or reviewed until they are complete and all supplementary materials are turned in to the Study Abroad Office. A complete application includes:

  • Completed Elf Form Application
  • Personal Statement about yourself and what attracted you to this course
  • One letter of recommendation from a faculty member within the student's major
  • Official transcript from each college attended
