The two-week study abroad component is preceded by web delivery of readings and online discussion groups. Students should expect to participate in structured discussions and lectures during their time in London.
In particular, the program includes:(a) Formal lectures delivered by the trip leaders as well as prominent guest scholars from European universities;
(b) Presentations from leading global sport executives along with daily field visits to leading multinational sporting enterprises. For 2009 these will include:
(c) Small group/individual tutorials.
As part of the Study Abroad Experience, students will complete an electronic diary that synthesizes reading material with on-site experiences.
Students will be registered for either KNES 389A: Topical Investigations (3 credits) or KNES 689J: Special Problems in Kinesiology (3 credits).
Eligibility
The curriculum is designed for students who are highly motivated, both academically and personally, and who are seeking to actively engage in the challenges of a new learning environment. Applicants should hold at least a 3.0 academic average, and early application is encouraged. An application does not guarantee admission to the program.
IMPORTANT: Admissions for the program are made on a rolling basis, and decisions will be given in a timely manner. However, please be aware that decisions will not be made on a daily basis, so you should expect a delay between when you submit an application and when you receive notification. Because admission to summer programs is competitive and space is limited, early application is advisable. Meeting the minimum GPA requirement alone is insufficient to guarantee admission. All required materials will be considered during the admission process. You may be asked to interview with the faculty member directing the program or with a study abroad advisor.
