National Taiwan University

Graduate and undergraduate students at the University of Maryland are eligible to apply to study for either one semester or one year at National Taiwan University. Exchange students are enrolled as full-time students at the NTU, so applicants are expected to be self-sufficient and highly motivated. As the University of Maryland does not maintain a permanent faculty presence in Taiwan, students will handle their academic and personal lives quite independently. As a result, exchange students have a unique opportunity to truly assimilate into the local culture.

In order to qualify for the program, applicants must maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 and must have completed 45 credits at the University of Maryland.

Taipei is Taiwan's bustling capitol city. The center of all Taiwanese government, commerce and culture, Taipei is a city that never sleeps. Many of the 3,000,000 inhabitants of Taipei speak English, but students interested in practicing their Mandarin will have ample opportunity to interact with the local population. The source of Taiwan's extensive public transportation system and the location of Taiwan's major airport, Taipei provides easy access to the rest of the island and to the Asian mainland.
