Can I use tuition remission to fund my study abroad experience? 

If you are studying abroad through a University of Maryland program, your program fee will be charged to your student account. As a result, you may be eligible to use tuition remission to finance a portion of your experience. If tuition remission applies, the person in charge of Benefits in the appropriate Department or Unit should be able to confirm the value of the tuition remission. If tuition remission does not cover the full amount of the program fee, the student is responsible for paying the balance through alternate means.

Please note: Tuition remission cannot be used to fund Winterterm programs. A limited tuition remission may be applied to summer programs. Tuition remission cannot be used to fund any non-Maryland study abroad program.
