If you are looking to live and learn in one of the world's most vibrant, exciting, and globally important cities, Maryland-in-London is the program for you. Maryland-in-London is the University of Maryland's oldest study abroad program and offers students an unparalleled opportunity to immerse themselves in the cosmopolitan hub of England. London is a world leader in business and finance, fashion, art, theater, and music, and an ideal place to study history, politics, and literature.
Students participating in the Maryland-in-London program can enhance their in-class academic experiences by letting all of London be their classroom. Participants are encouraged to take advantage of everything the city has to offer, including:
- Visiting Shakespeare's Globe Theatre
- Taking in a film premiere at Leicester Square
- Touring Kensington Palace
- Strolling through London's beautiful parks
- Cheering at a world class soccer match
- Exploring the birthplace of punk
- Contemplating all that transpired in the Tower of London
Beyond the city of London, all of the United Kingdom -- from the moors of Jane Eyre to the stunning beauty of the Lake District -- are easily accessible by train or bus.
Academics -- Stimulating, Unique, and With Something for Everyone
Maryland-in-London offers both courses taught by University of Maryland faculty and a wide range of courses available through our partnership with London Metropolitan University. This means you can take everything from the London Stage to the Social Anthropology of Britain to Molecular Biology. This diversity of course offerings includes a number of major, minor, Honors, and CORE requirements, insuring that your time in the UK keeps you on track for graduation.
